Quidditch. The sport of Wizards. It is a game followed by a large majority of witches and wizards in the magical world and so we simply cannot have a Harry Potter Society without Quidditch.

The game itself, if you’ve never read the books or watched the movies, involves 2 teams of 7 as well as 4 balls and 6 goal hoops, 3 for each team at either end of the pitch. The aim of the game is to get the most points for your team whilst flying around on broomsticks. 3 of the team members, the Chasers, throw the Quaffle (a ball the size of a volleyball) through the opposite team’s hoops whilst the opposite team’s Keeper tries to save it with each goal being worth 10 points. The 2 Beaters hit the opposite team members with Bludgers (almost like dodgeballs) to try and knock them off their game. Finally the Seeker on each team tries to catch the Golden Snitch, a small, fast, almond shaped, winged ball, which when caught, ends the game and gives that team 150 points. And of course the whole thing takes place 60 feet up in the air.

For our society each house has a team which will play in tournaments against the other houses. At the end of the year the Quidditch Cup will be awarded alongside the house cup. Tryouts will be taking place at the end of September and you can find out more by clicking the links on the right.

Below is the rulebook which we will be using to conduct the matches.
